Bold jewels

Once again, excuse the belated post- between our two lives Spring has kicked into gear! Busy, busy. With many fun weddings to look forward to this Spring and Summer, I am hoping to re-use some dresses nut update my jewels. Accessories are so much fun and can truly make statement especially this season with so many bold colors! Also, it can save you some pennies if you are savvy. Here are some I have my eye on to go with my dresses...

Found this fabulous designer, Elva Fields, through Katie Armour's The Neo- Traditionalist. Thanks Katie! Check out this Elva's creations (listed at bottom) and Katie's blog...awesome!

Stones and gold are the trend- rhinestones...not so much. The stone and gold are a very chic understated glamorous look maybe not suited for a black tie affair, but most everything else! Sometimes I am hesitant to hop on the stone/gold wagon as it can scream big-hair Texas diva, but when done in small amounts steals the show. Granted, not all of these are wallet friendly and ... most of these can go with other outfits as well aka a versatile investment!!

NYC on the brain

Hello everyone- excuse us for the long absence. Ever since the last post about fashion week, I have had NYC on my mind. We lived there for 3 months in summer 2010, and talk about the BEST time. We explored every nook and cranny of the city determined to get everything out of our short time there. Ahh so many stories! But for now here are a few images from my black and white film camera that I captured- Happy Friday!

The cutest couple ever stepping out of their Central Park apt. They held onto each other the whole time.

This little girl was so precious in Washington Square one day. Her mother probably thought I was a freak I followed her around for about 10 minutes.

Fashion Week

New York is buzzing with people and the ultimate fashionistas. One day I hope to attend, but for now I will enjoy form afar. I love this week because of all the awesome photography and street style! Close you eyes and imagine you are there...
Love these photos of the city and fashion week atmosphere

Vogue's take on Fashion Week 2012 street style. I added my own photo for Nacho- there he is in his suit and below there he is up close and personal at the 2010 Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic. He ran by and high-fived the so-called "public crowd" at the match. Yep, his elbow was in my face.

More street style.

garden of dreams...

Confession, we are Alabama football fans... so, a couple of weeks ago we made the journey down to New Orleans to cheer the Tide on in the National Championship....  But it is not the football that concerns us today, but rather a beautiful, dreamlike garden we visited during the festivities.  Our family was invited to an Alabama get together in a New Orleans residence.  As we travelled to the party, we passed through some rather sketchy parts of town and wondered if we were in the right place... but behind the brick wall... we entered a slice of the old south, genteel New Orleans.  This garden is an oasis from the rough neighborhood...

The knot gardens, guarded by the antique cherub statues, create clean, crisp lines and a romantic feel reminiscent of the regal gardens of France or England.  Plus I love the understated stone walk, adding to the old, quaint feel.  These more formal structured parts lead to an open lawn, perfect for a family flag football game or a dreamy dinner party with lots of twinkle lights and candles...

A lovely sitting nook for a movie set, can't you see it... lovely ladies dressed in all white, flowing dresses, and big hats taking a leisurely break from crochet, sipping lemonade...

Just imagine the impact of the crepe myrtles in bloom lining the pathway, ushering you into the house from the heat.

Can we just say the rich green, classic look of boxwoods well kept will never go out of style...
classic.

Much needed mini-vacay

This weekend we are set to go to Atlanta for shopping, food, drink and fun. Both of us have different things we are hoping to find ranging from long flowy skirt to white lacquered tables. When the two of us do a "shopping" day there is no telling what we will stumble upon: mid-day glass of prosecco- YES.

Just some various things floating around on our wish lists. Stay tuned we will document
glorious finds, food and drink.
Happy Weekend!
